Focus and Scope

AI-Linguistica. Linguistic Studies on AI-Generated Texts and Discourses is an international peer-reviewed journal devoted to the linguistic study of generated texts and discourses. It accepts original articles devoted to generated texts and discourses in all areas of linguistic research. AI-Linguistica publishes studies on all languages, with a special focus on Romance and Germanic languages.

Target readership of the journal

The journal is aimed at all scholars interested in the intersection between linguistics (across all theoretical frameworks), as well as neighbouring disciplines, and generative artificial intelligence (GenAI).

Open Access Policy

AI-Linguistica. Linguistic Studies on AI-Generated Texts and Discourses is a Diamond Open Access journal. Authors agree to grant the publisher a non-exclusive right to publish, while retaining copyright and all other rights to their work. No publication fees are charged and all content can be accessed immediately after publication free of charge. The journal and the title rights belong to the scientific community of AI-Linguistica, i.e. its Editor-in-Chief. The Editor-in-Chief also controls the journal's financial flows and accounts, as well as all decisions regarding editorial content and workflows. The journal operates transparently at all levels. AI-Linguistica serves scientific communication and is therefore non-profit.

AI-Linguistica's copyright and licensing policy is designed to promote the dissemination of knowledge and to allow authors to retain control over their work while still publishing it in the journal. All content is published under a Creative Commons License (CC-BY-NC-SA 4.0). Authors retain the copyright to their work, which means they can reuse, modify, and distribute their work as they see fit. This license enables reusers to distribute, remix, adapt, and build upon the material in any medium or format for noncommercial purposes only, and only so long as attribution is given to the creator. If you remix, adapt, or build upon the material, you must license the modified material under identical terms. CC-BY-NC-SA includes the following elements:

  • BY: credit must be given to the creator.
  • NC: Only noncommercial uses of the work are permitted.
  • SA: Adaptations must be shared under the same terms.

AI-Linguistica does not have an embargo period, which means that articles are available online immediately after publication.

Authors can self-archive their articles and deposit their articles in repositories, such as arXiv, PubMed Central, or institutional repositories, as long as they comply with the journal's self-archiving policy.

The self-archiving policy of AI-Linguistica is as follows:

  • Preprints (versions before peer review): Authors can deposit preprints at any time
  • Author Accepted Manuscripts (AAMs): Authors can deposit AAMs after acceptance
  • Author's final version / Version of Record (VoRs): Authors can deposit the final version of the article after publication in repositories of their choice (e.g. an institutional, disciplinary and general-purpose repository, etc.), as long as it is the version that was accepted for publication.
  • No embargo: There is no embargo period, which means that authors can deposit their articles in repositories immediately after publication.
  • Bibliographic information: Full bibliographic information (authors, article title, journal title, volume, issue, pages) about the original publication must be provided and links must be made to the article's DOI and the license
  • CC BY-NC-SA license: Authors must ensure that the deposited article is licensed under a CC BY-NC-SA license, which allows others to share, use, and build upon the work as long as it is for non-commercial purposes and they give proper credit to the original authors.

Publishing schedule and publication form

All accepted manuscripts are published continuously during the year, they are formally divided into issues. AI-Linguistica does not have an embargo period, which means that articles are available online immediately after publication.

The journal is only available online. There are no printed issues. All published articles are available in PDF format.

Long term preservation

All articles and PDFs are long-term identifiable by DOIs. AI-Linguistica is also archived by the German National Library (https://d-nb.info/1318526124) and PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN), including all full-text PDFs.

All documents are indexed by the library or the authors themselves and can also be found via this indexing. The following subject indexing tools are used or offered as a minimum:

The electronic documents are provided with individual and permanent addresses that allow direct access to the documents.
The documents are listed in suitable databases, including DOAJ, ANVUR, the SLUB catalogue, the catalogue of the German National Library, ZDB, EZB, BASE, Crossref and Google Scholar.

International standards, such as the guidelines of the Open Archives Initiative (OAI), are used and further developed for the indexing, storage, provision and archiving of electronic documents.

Journal Governance

The journal is led by the Editor-in-Chief, supported by the Co-Editor-in-Chief and the Editorial Board. Together, these bodies are responsible for setting strategic directions and ensuring the effective implementation of the journal’s mission.

The journal is further supported by the Editorial Office, which ensures the efficient operation of all editorial processes.

(i) Editor-in-Chief and Co-Editor-in-Chief
The Editor-in-Chief and Co-Editor-in-Chief oversee the entire editorial process, ensuring that all activities align with the journal’s standards, scope, and objectives.

(ii) Editorial Board
The Editorial Board establishes editorial policies, provides strategic guidance, and ensures adherence to ethical and professional standards.

(iii) Editorial Office
The Editorial Office manages the day-to-day operations of the journal. Its members prepare manuscripts for publication, revise the journal’s basic style rules and templates, coordinate correspondence with authors and editors of special issues, and oversee the technical and administrative aspects of the publication process.

Author Fees

AI-Linguistica does not charge fees from its authors.

Revenue and Advertising

Statement on Financing

AI-Linguistica and its website refrain from commercial advertising. AI-Linguistica is a Diamond OA journal, it does not charge publication or reading fees. The costs for DOI, web hosting and plagiarism checks are covered by PUBLIA – SLUB Open Publishing (the publication service of SLUB Dresden). The work of all editors and the production team is voluntary.

Direct marketing

AI-Linguistica does not implement direct marketing.
